Product Rinse Sterility Test
Combination Product Insight: The Product Rinse Sterility Test is specially designed for products containing hollow tubes, such as infusion and infusion sets. It is ideal for products that are not suited for soaking and where the fluid channel is certified sterile. This user-friendly method involves modifying FTM media with liquid D rinse products. The procedure includes membrane filtering of the eluate, followed by placement in FTM and SCDM media. Although not commonly employed, this technique ensures thorough sterility assurance.
Bulk Drugs / Biopharmaceuticals
Bulk drugs (APIs), prior to their integration into the manufacturing process, undergo sterilization in strict adherence to USP 71 standards, guaranteeing superior safety and efficacy.
Bulk biologics are meticulously assessed for sterility according to 21 CFR 610.12. This protocol mandates a medium (FTM) with precisely defined sample test sizes and a minimum volume capacity of 10 ml, ensuring reliable and consistent sterility evaluation.
Interpretation of Sterility Test Results
Our technicians are expertly trained to perform growth testing methods during the cultivation process. Growth detection is achieved by observing changes in the clarity of a generally transparent medium against a light source. The emergence of turbidity indicates microorganism growth. Upon detection, the suspect container undergoes further testing to ascertain whether the observed turbidity results from microbial presence or other factors like particle shedding or chemical reactions. After testing, samples are returned to the incubator to complete the incubation period. For samples that exhibit turbidity, a four-day observation period is initiated on the 14th day of testing.
